Thanks to your support and confidence in me, I was first elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. It’s election time again and I ask for your support so that I may continue to serve the citizens of Dallas County as Judge of Dallas County Court at Law No.1.
Since the last election, in addition to my judicial duties, I have served a term as the Presiding Judge of the County Courts at Law, and continue to serve on the County Dispute Resolution Services Board. Because of your steadfast support I have been able to ensure that all litigants who appear before me are treated with dignity and respect and that justice is fairly dispensed.
I am also pleased to share with you that this year I completed the requirements for a Diploma in Civil Law from the Texas College for Judicial Studies. This is an advanced course of study in civil law for judges.
In the last few years in addition to my regular judicial duties, I have worked with the Texas Center for the Judiciary whose primary purpose is to enhance and support the administration of justice in the State with a particular emphasis on continuing legal education of the judiciary.
I recently served on the Center’s Nomination Committee which is responsible for nominating the leadership of the Texas Center for Judiciary. In addition to serving on the Nominations Committee this year I was also Chair of the Center’s By-Laws Committee. In 2011, I served as a member of the Curriculum Committee which worked to provide high quality continuing judicial education programs for judges throughout the state.
Having served as a judge since 2007, I am more convinced than ever that having a strong and well educated judiciary who administers justice in a fair and impartial manner is one the greatest assets the voting public can have. Having judges with strong beliefs in justice and fairness for all ensures that the public can trust the judicial system when appearing before it. With your renewed and ongoing support, I will continue to administer the law in a fair and impartial manner.
Judge D’Metria Benson
Dallas County Court-at-Law No. 1
